It might be a while... are you guys going to miss me?

Zeus DAMN IT! My charger for my palmtop is broken and I seem unable (due to my current situation) to go buy another. So this might be the last post of this blog for quite a while. Now it has been fun I do admit, this blog ending the boring nature of eternal suffeing and standard interent surfing. The thoughts of new blog enteries most exciting to stimualte my intelligent brain. At least if you compare me with Altas:p. SORRY BRO!
Anyway, it is hoped you did learn something about me, my life and my views. This blog would never have been possible without you, so stand up and take a bow. Seriously do..haha. Anyway just to stimulate you my loyal readers one more time, since it might be a while before you hear from me again. My good friend and loyal blog follower, Zhou Huibin (student ID:20110719 ) from UWA in Perth recommends the following books found in the Reid library. It is all about me and my good friend Aeschylus so you can get your fix of good ol' Prometheus from there:
- Prometheus bound / Aeschylus , edited by Mark Griffith
- Prometheus bound / Aeschylus ; translated by James Scully and C. J. Herington
- Prometheus bound / Derived from Aeschylus
- The Prometheus bound of Aeschylus / represented in English and explained by Edward George Harman
- The Prometheus Bound / Aeschylus ; edited with introduction, commentary and translation by George Thomson
Well that seems to be that, better stop it here before the battery runs out, I hate half done work and...I hate goodbyes...I lleave you with this work by Paul Manship in front of th RCA building in the US of my most proud act of giving... Hope to see you soon...PROMETHEUS OUT!!!! KEEP THE FLAME HOT WITH KNOWLEDGE AND PROGRESS PEOPLE!!

Knowledge can go both ways...

I have recently been a bit annoyed at what I am watching, it seems my knowledge can be abused in several ways too. Like for all my great knowledge and technology I actually find this online:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qep0yBxU7xw
It is a rock paper scissors championships... I mean with all the problems of this world and the many issues such as HELLO, MEe being in chains!! You would think people would put more time into these matters. I would say more but I think this post ain't going to get any more positive, so I will leave it at that.
Somebody kill me now...

What makes a saviour

A saviour has many attributes, I would like to think that a saviour like in Aristotlian terms is also a moral person. Who has all the virtues of Aristotle's virtue ethic's theory. These include the virtues of Eudaimonia:
1.Honesty
2.Pride
3.Friendliness
4.Wittiness
5.Rationality
6.Non-sacrificial friendships
7.Scientific knowledge
8.Practical knowledge
Now, in Aristotle's terms you got to possess all the qualities to be a virtuous person and although a high bar of quality. I do hope that I fit this bar to you all. HAHA! Well, where did you think I was going with this:p.
Actually though, I was thinking of the day I would be free and maybe if there was such a saviour for me(wink wink), I hope he would emcompass the same values as me haha. He would be like me a saviour to mankind travelling around this world and making it a safer world, removing all the obstacles to mankind. Centaurs might be an issue for him though:S, dont ask me why but they are tricky creatures. He will purify the world of the mythyic creatures, the world will belong to man. And who knows he might even take that son of a bitch Zeus down. He may even be descended from Zeus himself, who knows:p? I know Hermes wants to know for one.
Dont know why but I feel a lot of hope when i see this pic...:)

Gods Vs Mortals

Recently in The Olyumpus Daily, there is fresh debate that I deserve my punishment by Zeus for my 'love' of the mortals over the Gods. I dont get the hypocrisy, for a group that professes a agreement with Zeus that I did wrong. These 'Gods' sure are enjoying themselves with the very mortals they agreed to be exterminated. Like if it werent for me, I bet you life up in Olympus would be even more boring than it is now! Like why do you think they have to keep coming down and bothering the mortals.
Also with Zeus's track record from the golden race down, I doubt that anything past the iron race would have been worth creating. Ok, so the age of heros was a fluke in the natural decline of character of each subseqent race but I still would not trust Zeus to do a good job. Seeing how easily he gets distracted by anything wearing a dress.
Anyway, I have great contempt for the article and have my pride. I stand by my decision of helping the mortals. Now I have not personally read the article (being chained does make it hard to go out and get a newspaper all the way in Olypmus) but I am told it was written by Hermes so it can't be anything good. I just ask that you excercise caution as it was written and edited by people who are only lackeys to Zeus.

The gift of giving

I was looking around randomly around the internet and was amazed at all the ideas and things humans have done with the gift I bestowed on them of fire and knowledge. Before they were living like animals but without any of the gifts or advantages of the rest of the animal kingdom, such flight of a bird, strength of a elephant or the killing ability of a lion. To give them literally a fighting chance, out of goodwill I gave them the ability to dominate. I guess I saw a spark in them I could not in a platypus.
I mean they had all these normal levels of ability, sight, feel, hearing, smell but none of them were honed enough to give them an edge. And Epimetheus having already giving the other animals an edge in one of those areas meant that giving them an enhanced trait of one the 5 senses would be of no use to their survival. Instead then I gave them knowledge and the basic tool that is required to make new technologies, fire. With that and their new found knowledge, no longer were they stupidfied when they saw a stick that could be a spear, no longer were they unable to react correctly when they heard a lion's growl. Before they travelled all their life like feed to the other animals, aimless in life. No goals of anything, living in holes or anywhere they could to survive the day or hour. Like aimless ants milling about ready for anyone or anything to take them for this misery of life.
Then I came, for what reason is my own, whether it was a relation or a goodwill issue, I choose not to say now. But their flourish ever since I saw the first few fires lit by them around the world filled my eyes with joy. They advanced on a level unexpected, from this in the beginning of the gift of fire
to this at the the peak of my popularity.
And its gets better, but i dont want to give you readers a big head about how much you have progressed. Suffice to say you taken my gift and literally ran with it in so many ways. The sciences, the multitude of languages and writing all progressing to a level that even the Gods took notice and started extensive relations (some more intimate than others) with mankind. I literally think I gave the Gods their most entertaining activitiy when I made mankind so intelligent but of course their gratitude has been umm... most unfavourable.
On top of that, I made them no longer the feed of their fellow living creatures, instead the tables. Humans basically consuming all the other animals in the world to support their ever increasing population. The domination getting pretty scary and unbalanced ... but hey my kindess to you my children... i mean humans is endless. I mean look at how this creature is dominated by your kind, haha: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7cJ-10gSrBg . I would have loaded the video but my download speed is pretty slow and kisses will come any minute:(.
Recently I also have been hearing about the whole world being multicultural, I feel though that at least you guys should credit some of that to me. I mean come on, I allowd knowldege that lead to and I quote Aeschylus: "...flax winged craft that roamed the seas." Meaning if it were'nt for me you would not have this talented and handsome looking indiviual, a mix of so many races, I dont know what to call him:S:And do remember all I do, I look for nothing in return for I knew I was going to be punished and you good people can do nothing to help me physically. So drop by my temple and donate to the 'Free Prometheus Fund' ok..., lets at least get an initiative going:D.

Foresight issues

Now many have commented why if I could see into the future with the orcale I secretly took from mum, why did I not avoid my current situation? The reason is simple, this world is pretty much determined already. What must happen will happen, thus I could try to avoid one particular incident but in the end my fate will not change. That why we have oracles, if they can tell us a future to come, it means it is there already. Also if you notice the same results happen to a oracle's divination even though external powers are at play and they are done by freely choosing indiviuals. I think that is proof enough..
Thus, that is why my dear readers I am still bound to this rock...and trust me having the power of foresight aint as great as it sounds. With it, I know how long I will have to suffer and thus everything is just waiting and waiting. It leaves no place for hope...and that is a worse fate than everything else. I can't even hope my misery can be put to an end by death...

Repentence

Recently, people have been saying that my post about Zeus was a personal attack and that I should learn to be more mature. The fact I admitted my post was bias was suspose to say that the post was my opinions but still people have come back at me for being biased...talk about telling the blind they are blind. Can't you read!
Anyway, I going to be MATURE and repent for my past sin of a post and say now that I am Zeus's biggest fan. So in recognition of my fandom for him, here are some pics of Zeus in his daily activities. Yes, my fandom knows no bounds, i will follow him anywhere...
The Zeus we all know and love BUT as true fan of Zeus I want you to see the real Zeus:
Zeus new show of humility to us, his loyal subjects...We are not worthy!!

Zeus after a failed Atkin's diet, I bet Hera loves those clubby cheeks and maybe the cause of the extra pounds due to their 'happy' marriage...And finally Zeus's mug shot after being caught fondling with a cow, who he claims, he thought was Io, It was a dark barn though...
So there you have it, after all that I can still say my feelings for Zeus changed and I am his biggest fan. So if feel these pics are offensive then I guess you dont have the same new convinction of love I have for Zeus. SO BUGGER OFF!

.............

Its been a long day, in other words its been raining and not being able to move is quite the problem of trying to keep dry. Thank god i keep my palmtop in a protective waterproof covering. My fingers can do pretty amazing things now with so much practice.
Sometimes though this constant knowledge of impending suffering does make me think most negetively. I do wish to end it all but that is the problem of being able to forsee the future. You know what is going to happen and everything is just waiting ...waiting...end this pls...
Prometheus Out...

A happy thought, Lets talk about a good friend

I have been reading through my blog and have found it is pretty negetive lately. So to perk things up I have decided to show my brighter side by including a post about my good friend Aeschylus. Aeschylus is a playwright born in Eleusis in 525B.C, his many accolades inculdes 'not only being one of the founders of Greek tragedy, works which includes 'The Persians', 'The Supplliants', 'The Orestia', and many more. In fact over 90 plays are accredited to my good friend and shows his genius because all these works are of immpecable quality. His best work though by far has to be The Prometheus trilogy, in my view at least:p. People dispute greatly what is the first true trilogy, Star Wars or Lord of the Rings. I think they are all wrong and that the Prometheus trilogy outclasses both in time of creation and quality of story. Come on! Which one more interesting, a hobbit, heavy breathing man wearing leather or a semi divine that saves humanity! I rest my case:) but lets not make this post about me. I am no Narcissus.
Anyway, some deny Promethues Bound to my good friend due to style 'issues' and some parts of the play requiring machinery not avaliable during his time. This being said they cant conclude against him definetively so I stand by my old friend's genius. His inspirations includes of course Homer who although blind loves to chat online with me about the Simpsons. Aeschylus also living in a time of the rising art of drama, inculcated a affinity for the arts. His works are not only about entertainment, there are morals to his story so you learn something in addition to being entertained. Unlike many movies today, Scary movie 3 for one. God, I can't believe I gave them knowledge to produce that crap...
In his work 'The Persians', there is a line that signifies that excess begets pride and that the harvest of pride is ruin.' Zeus should learn that as soon as possible. I did send him a copy of 'The Persians' but he has never got back to me on whether he liked the play or not.
Anyway, on top of being a literary genius, he keeps me busy during the late hours recovering from Kisses umm 'kisses'. Talking philosophy or any other topic and playing Texas Hold'em Poker online on Facebook. He does great and I heard he is going to be invited to Oprah Winfrey's book club soon as a guest. I am for sure going to ask someone to record that for me!
Oh and I found a disney version to Prometheus Bound, its a hoot to watch!(don't you love 'fictional' cartoons):

Zeus, a tyrant's guide to small mindedness:p

Being chained to a rock sure gives you a lot of free time to think, especially when you can only watch anything on your palmtop by twisting your head 90degrees makes it impossible for long hours of viewing. And recently not suprisingly I have been thinking about the person who put me here, the villian to my story. The father killing, lighting bolt throwing, unreasonably power hungry , horny and neurotic tyrant, Zeus himself. Now you might get from that line that this post might be a bit bias so be warned.
For those that do not know Zeus, where have you been, living in a cave with Polyphemus? Anyway if you dont know look up 'The dictionary of Classical Mythology' by Grimal, which gives a good summary and sections on where you can find him in the ancient works. I know as the bearer of knowledge for mankind, this is pretty lazy but I be damned if I have to write a 'lets get to know Zeus' post in this blog. I know it is quite ironic of me to say that I am not damned already, seeing as I am chained to a rock and has a eagle peck out my liver everyday but it could be worse...hope no one in Olympus heard that.
Anyway, getting on with this blog, what do I think of Zeus, our great leader? Simply put by my good friend Aeschylus. He is a tyrant. I mean lets look at the evidence shall we:
-He has a group of lackey ministers, Kratos, Hermes, the list goes on and all of them not very helpful in the way of creative criticism to his actions
-Uses among all his ministers Kratos (strength) and Bia (Force) to chain me. Now I might be reading into this but the meaning behind this could be him trying to show that his strength is in force. I think there is something to this theory. Especially when you read the text in Prometheus Bound, which can be bought on Amazon, each purchase will donate a small amount to the 'Free Prometheus Fund:D.
-He is irrespondsible and acts unconstituionally by basically acting on laws he makes up for his own convenience. Poor Io for example, punished for not accepting Zeus's personal advances
-Oh his insatiable lust, how can a leader rule heaven, earth and hades when he spends so much time on the prowl for the thing he created to punish man with:S.

So I leave it up to you my good reader to choose if I am right about his Tyranny. And if you still think, let's give him a chance. Let me tell you one thing that might change your mind on Zeus's 'good' nature. When Zeus won the war with the Titans, he and me were quite close. I joined the Olympians forseeing the fall of the Titans ignorance for diplomacy. I was then tasked with choosing the ministers for Zeus's court and allocating each of the God's roles in Olympus. He probably saw my skills in using my brain which he lacked. Then me and Epimetheus were tasked with the creation of all living things too(If you dont believe me, look at Mark Griffith's Prometheus Bound p.3, He quote's Plato). Now Epimethues ran out of atrributes when he got to mankind, so I just gave them a boost with the use of fire. Now I know it was suspose to be a God thing but why be selfish. Anyway, after all I done for that bastard, he does even look at one thing I did for him in the past and punishes me to the extent of daily toture. You think it is fair? If you do, you need a check for a brain deficiency.
Like even his supporters can see his Tyranny, I won't say who but a certain someone who chained me to a rock said that Zeus was new to power and would eventually come to his senses of wrongdoing. So there, rebut that, I would say I hope he would get his retribution but I KNOW he will hahahahaha.

Hesoid Mesoid...whatever!!

Saw Hesoid on MSN messenger today, He saw my blog and seemingly to what I have been told by my friends at the temple of Kerameikos (Where I am worshipped as the God of craft and fire), he has been bad mouthing me as a thief and trickster, who is sly and a bad character all around who backstabbed Zeus. Not his first time, he had done previously in that book of his The Theogony, which earned him quite a sum, our lawsuit for slander is still pending. Somehow I think Zeus has something to do with the trial still being under 'investigation' by the Greek courts since like FOREVER.
Anyway he and Kratos (He, Bia and Hephateus were at my binding 'ceremony') are good friends and both have talked fondly on ocassion on the need to punish me to teach me to respect Zeus on 'Larry King Live' on the CNN network. I could not reached for comment, satellite and internet connection had not reached the Caucasus back then. ..
I mean where does he find the nerve to do that. First thing first, he is one of the descendents of the humans I saved from extinction when I gave them fire. Secondly, if it were not for my gift of fire and knowledge, there would be no books, TV or the internet, which would have allowed him to sell so many copies of his book and make paid appreances. Like I am not perfect, I am only semi-Divine and come from a earthly origin. Do I do everything right? Of course not, if not I would not be chained to a rock for all time isn't it, but I try and that is all anyone can do. I mean if i could have figured out a way for humanity to live on without my punishment I would but Zeus was most hard headed about his decision to kill them off and time was of the essence. Now there are rumours that mankind is my children and that is why I helped them, some say I am father of Deucalion. He was the common ancestor and re-creator of mankind but I reserve a right to say nothing on that issue other than mankind did fasincate me and a little care and concern for anybody, family or otherwise is a virtue I pride myself as having. So point being Hesoid logically should be kissing my ass over Zeus's but I guess everyone loves a winner, especially peasants like Hesoid.
Hesoid does not just attack me though but also my brother Epimetheus, who he makes out to be most slow witted. I agree he is not going to beat Einstein in a contest of wit and intelligence anytime soon but personally I feel his protrayal is most exzagerrated. He makes it out that me and my brothers (Atlas, Epimethues, etc) all have one thing in common and that is we all sinned against Zeus and could not get away with it. Kissing Zeuse's ass by making sound like he is all knowing (Bet he does not know how he is going to be threatened for his supremacy by his own offspring:p). He also blames me for the creation of women, a punishment sent down by Zeus for the fire incident too. Now before I go any further, I will say that I was indirectly involved in this whole women business. Women were created as a punishment to my act but it was Epimetheus that accepted the gift of Pandora, despite my many warnings not to. This proven by this Attic red figure vase's picture made between 475-425B.C.So to blame me totally would be very unfair. Now it has been noted by some on how the character standing beside Pandora could be Hephaetues but I assure you its Epimetheus. Firstly, the character has the look Epimetheus has whenever he sees Aphrodite and the fact there are names above each character which are not visable in this picture. Ask Nick Sullivan from UWA in Perth if you dont trust me. Simply put, I do not take full responsibility for Zeus's petty nature.
So I hope you can see my point on how Hesoid, although writing a most entertaining book I admit is most bias to the Olympians and does forget my contributions to Olympus. For that, I feel he is very overrated as a poet, no wonder he has never beaten Homer for the best sellers list in the market square of Athens. At least, Homer took pride in telling things the way it happened. HUMPH! UP YOURS HESOID!

A Titan's Prelude

Hi there, you might remember me as a character from such books and plays such as Hesoid's The Theogony and Aeschylus's Prometheus Trilogy. Now if you still are questioning who I am, I guess you have not read the about me section of this blog or you are not a student of Classics and Ancient history. And thus for your benefit, I shall introduce myself. I am Prometheus, the fire bearer, Saviour of mankind and the smartest of the Titans...I would like to think:p.
Anyway, for those of you who find my surname of Titan familiar, yes my ancestory is most godly. My dad is the Titan Iapetus and my mother Themis. Now dad lost the war with the Olympians because dad was on the losing side and had to move to Tatarus. So I dont get to see him much:(. I on the other hand decided to stick mine in with Zeus because I kind of know what is going to happen in the future most of the time. The oracle I secretly took from mom might have something to do with that, haha. My brothers include Atlas, Epimetheus and Menoetheius. Yes quite a lineage I have, just like the famous Baldwin actor family in the USA:p.
Now if you are wondering why my Blog is named Bounded for life, I think you need to seriously have a conscious check. Why? Let me tell you a story. When mankind (YOU!) were in a crsis of being killed off by Zeus slowly, it was I Promethues that gave you fire and the knowledge for all the technologies and advancements you have today. Yes even the internet and its porn should be accredited to me. Well anyway because of that, me and Zeus kind of had a falling out, and he decided to impale and bind me to a rock where a eagle would peck my regenerating liver for all time. I call that eagle Kisses, why? I dont know, it seems to piss it off as I call it that when it does it's 'job'. So after reading this, take some time and just look to your bank account and try to donate as much as you can to the "Free Prometheus Fund" ASAP. This is a poster from the "Free Prometheus Fund' by my potter friends in Kerameikos:) (Picture from a Laconian Black Figure 6th Century)
So that's it for now, about time for Kisses to come and last thing I want is to drop my palmtop and not be able to report to you my wonderful and hopefully soon to be loyal readers:p.
